Koh Ker: The Jungle Capital Built 200 Years Before Angkor Wat

This tour is a good opportunity if you are looking for a temple photo tour away from Angkor. Our journey begins at Koh Ker, a remote archaeological site scattered in the northern part of Cambodia, about 120 kilometers from Siem Reap. Koh Ker complex sees less than 100 visitors a day and officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023.

Serving as the Khmer Empire's short-lived capital during the 10th century, this ancient cradle of Angkorian history boasts hundreds of hidden sanctuaries and a vast hydraulic system. Despite historical plundering, its vast forests still conceal remarkable sculptures and awe-inspiring ruins.

In the afternoon, we will venture to Beng Mealea, a massive, jungle-shrouded temple built in the same architectural style as Angkor Wat. While much of its history remains shrouded in mystery, its sprawling, ruinous beauty provides an extraordinary backdrop for photography.
